Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are known for using their social media platform for advocacy, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex rolling out a monthly social awareness campaign on their official account @sussexroyal in a bid to raise awareness for the causes they are most passionate about.

WATCH! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s latest charity move raises eyebrows

Posting on their official Instagram account, the new parents to baby Archie Sussex shared an impassioned plea to their substantial number of followers about the global effects of climate change.

“As a continuation of our monthly social awareness approach to shine a light on the accounts that are working towards positive change, for the month of July we turn our attention to the environment,” the post began.

“There is a ticking clock to protect our planet – with climate change, the deterioration of our natural resources, endangerment of sacred wildlife, the impact of plastics and microplastics, and fossil fuel emissions, we are jeopardizing this beautiful place we call home – for ourselves and for future generations. Let’s save it. Let’s do our part.”

Like many members of the royal family, the philanthropic couple is known for doing their bit to better the world and much like Prince William and Kate Middleton and their social account @kensingtonroyal, the pair have mastered the art of social media as a tool for raising awareness for the causes that mean the most to them.

Although charity is number one on the new parents’ priority list (second only to their baby boy) the couple is determined to do it alone.

Meghan and Harry raised more than a few eyebrows two weeks ago when they announced they would be officially parting ways with the joint charity they set up with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, which sparked yet more feud rumours.

This follows announcements made by both couples confirming they will not be travelling together any time soon.

It’s expected the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will spend two weeks travelling with Archie, with stops to include visits to Malawi, Angola, Botswana and South Africa, while William and Kate will travel to Pakistan.
