Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been spending months – and a mini fortune – overhauling their ten-bed Grade II listed property, Frogmore Cottage, in preparation for it becoming their new home when baby Sussex arrives.
The historical home was built in the 18th century for Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III, so whilst it was no doubt beautiful, reports that the cottage was in a dilapidated state meant Meghan had no choice but to give the cottage a much-needed revamp – and the cost of such renovations is not cheap.
According to The Sun, Meghan is rumoured to have teamed up with famous interior designer Vicky James who has taken down several internal walls to created five en-suite bedrooms, a kitchen diner, a sweeping staircase and a yoga room.
So how much exactly will all these renovations cost?
The figure is estimated to be between £2million and £3million (nearly as high as $6 million in Australian currency).
A source told the MailOnline: “It is a very expensive affair. Frogmore Cottage is in an extremely run-down condition and is needing a lot of TLC and heavy restoration to bring it up to standard ahead of the Duke and Duchess’ moving in date.
“As a result, it is set to cost between £2million and £3million for the whole project.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently making preparations to move from their London residence to their new home, which is nestled in the grounds of Windsor Castle’s Home Park in Berkshire.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child together in mid-April.
