Former model Lizzie Cundy claims the Duchess of Sussex was on the hunt for a ‘famous British man’ before she was introduced to Prince Harry.
Ms Cundy, who met Meghan at a charity event in 2013, told The Sun: “We were having a girly chat and then she said, ‘Do you know any famous guys? I’m single and I really love English men.’
“So I said, ‘We’ll go out and find you someone.’
Ms Cundy went on to reveal that she actually had someone in mind for the former actress.
“I was thinking about some of the Chelsea lot and I thought of Ashley Cole as he’d split from Cheryl. I showed her a photo of Ashley and she was like ‘Oh yeah, he’s cute. Does he have a reputation?’ I was like, ‘Well, yeah, but you’re only here to have a bit of fun.'”
Ms Cundy says she kept in touch with Meghan until she met Harry in 2016.
“I texted saying, ‘Oh my god, I heard about Harry.’ And she was like, ‘Yeah I know. We’ll try and hook up.'”
But Ms Cundy admits that was the last she heard from Meghan, who went on to marry Harry at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.
“She was probably told by the Palace to end contact with people she befriended in the media,” Ms Cundy continues.
“I was literally ghosted by her.”
