For more than 150 years, summer holidays at Balmoral have been royal tradition.
Queen Elizabeth II usually spends three months of every year at her home in the Scottish Highlands at her beloved 50,000-acre estate.
Now, newly minted duchess Meghan Markle will get to experience Balmoral for the first time. As per royal tradition, the Queen has invited members of the family to join her for her annual retreat.

‘It’s something they can’t get out of,’ a source tells In Touch, who confirms the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will both visit the estate for four days this summer.
‘It’s only for a short period of time, but being stuck in the middle of nowhere with the queen can make that time feel much longer.’
However, despite Meghan striking up a warm relationship with her grandmother-in-law, the duchess is growing increasingly worried about her father Thomas Markle’s continuous bashing of the royal family.
A source tells In Touch, ‘The queen is furious, and Meghan knows it,’ adding, ‘This trip could turn out to be very awkward.’

According to In Touch, Meghan is also growing increasingly anxious about the royal family’s love of hunting. While at Balmoral, the Queen loves to shoot deer and grouse, while Meghan is very anti-hunting.
‘She’s going to find it difficult to hold back from pressing her opinion. Harry loves that she speaks her mind but doesn’t want any drama.’
