Ever since she joined the royal family, Meghan Markle has never really stuck to royal tradition.
And, now it appears that the Duchess of Sussex has been forgoing a royal tour tradition that the majority of royal women follow – releasing details of their clothes.
Watch Meghan’s relatable moment while on tour…
“What’s different on this tour is that typically on a royal tour the palace would release details on what the member of the royal family was wearing,” Angela Mollard says on New Idea Royals podcast.
“You would normally get, not necessarily the price, but what it was and who the designer was.”
However, on her tour of Africa the palace hasn’t released these details and it is believed to be at Meghan’s suggestion.
“[Meghan] didn’t want to reveal details of her outfits,” reveals Angela.
“She felt that it detracted [from their work], particularly because she had that experience in Australia and New Zealand where everyone clamoured to see what she was wearing each day, she hasn’t done it this time.
“I think she has been very clever and I’m sure she has advice on it.”
What’s more, Ange thinks that Meghan’s wardrobe choices have been very well thought out.
“The message in this trip is its focussed on the work they are doing. For instance, Meghan’s clothes are bland in their colour range, we are seeing navy’s, dirty greens clothes that she has worn before… muted colours low cost items and she left her engagement ring behind.
“It’s a deliberate move, it’s far too ostentatious to wear into communities where there is tremendous hardship,” she says.
“I think that’s very sensible. It’s important after the criticism of the private jests and cost of renovating Frogmore Cottage, they needed to come into this tour message based.”
