Kate Middleton wowed the attendees at the state dinner honouring US president Donald Trump on Monday, but what most people may not know is that the brilliant blue sash that was draped across the Duchess of Cambridge’s chest has a very special meaning.
WATCH! Trump mingles with the royal family at state banquet!
Kate wore the famous Lover’s Knot tiara- that was once Princess Diana’s favourite – and was the piece she wore back in October 2018 at the Buckingham Palace state banquet.
The mother-of-three stunned in an elegant white gown by Alexader McQueen, but the real eye-catching accoutrement was the blue sash; but why was Kate wearing it?
The state dinner at Buckingham Palace marks the very first occasion with which the Duchess of Cambridge donned the sash, which was gifted to her when Kate was appointed as a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO).
The position is quite an honour, as it is the highest ranking of chivalry and is always given to recipients by the Queen herself.

The Duchess of Cambridge received the honour on her eighth wedding anniversary in April.
Kate Middleton joins other royal ladies Camilla Parker Bowles and Sophie Countess of Wessex, who have both earnt the special title in 2012 and 2010 respectively.
Now it’s Meghan’s turn!
