Kate Middleton and Prince William have changed the name of the charity they once shared with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

According to documents published by Companies House, the name has been changed to “The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.”

This is the third time the name has been changed due to it’s constantly changing members.

It was once known as the Royal Foundation (when it was founded by Harry, William and Kate in 2009) but was amended to The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex after Meghan and Harry’s royal wedding.

In June this year, the two couples announced their split, leading to Meghan and Harry established their new charity – Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – in July.

At the time of the royal couple’s divergence from the foundation, Kensington Palace released a statement confirming the news:

“The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex has today announced the conclusions of a review into its structure, and how it will best support Their Royal Highnesses with future charitable activity,”

“Later this year The Royal Foundation will become the principal charitable and philanthropic vehicle for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will establish their own new charitable foundation with transitional operating support from The Royal Foundation.”

A source told People that the separation has been a “natural progression.”

“A review of The Royal Foundation is something that had previously been announced,” said the source.

“This is part of [the couples’] diverging paths, which hastened a look at the foundation.”

According to the publication, the couples separated their joint “court” at Kensington Palace earlier this year by creating two separate offices – Meghan and Harry’s office relocated from Kensington Palace to Buckingham Palace, where the Queen resides, while William and Kate’s office resides in Kensington Palace, where they live with their three children.

Since the change, Meghan and Harry have moved to Windsor Castle’s Frogmore Cottage with their son Archie.

Prince William’s status as heir to the throne has left his hands tied.

According to People’s source, “the Duke of Cambridge has less flexibility [in his charity work] because of his constitutional obligations.”

The sourced also noted that his brother, Prince Harry “is now married, has started a family and is not constitutionally bound. It is a natural progression.”

The statement from Kensington Palace also revealed that while the royal foursome will not work together within The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they plan to “work together on projects in the future, including on The Foundation’s mental health program, Heads Together.”

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are incredibly proud of what they have achieved together through The Royal Foundation. They are especially proud to have established a charity that has had, and will continue to have, significant long-lasting impact, changing lives for the better,” the statement continued.

The royal statement also discussed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s future charitable efforts.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wish to build on The Foundation’s past successes, continuing programs such as ‘Heads Up,’ the new mental health campaign delivered in partnership with the FA, ‘United for Wildlife,’ which runs a global taskforce tackling the illegal wildlife trade, and ‘Mentally Healthy Schools,’ which supports teachers and staff improve child mental health. They are also developing new initiatives on the environment and support for children and families which The Foundation expects to announce in the coming year.”
