Kate Middleton stepped out today to open the Great Ormond Street Hospital’s new Mittal Children’s Medical Centre, and all eyes were on the pregnant royals style (as always!).
That’s why fans were left confused when the doting mum-to-be was in attendance without her engagement ring.
The duchess is very rarely seen without her iconic sapphire and diamond engagement band, which once belonged to Princess Diana. In lieu of the enormous sparkler was a modest gold band.
It was revealed that the duchess was adhering to the hospital’s strict ‘minimal jewellery‘ guidelines, as she would have to wash her hands thoroughly before entering the Children’s Centre.
Kate’s engagement ring is truly spectacular. The band consists of 14 solitaire diamonds surrounding a 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire set in 18-karat white gold.
