As one of the most beloved members of the royal family, Kate Middleton must have her fair share of flattering nicknames, but it turns out the future Queen of England was always popular amongst her peers as a documentary has revealed Kate’s fellows at University gave the Duchess a very complimentary epithet.

In a newly unearthed documentary titled Prince William at Thirty, fellow student Helen McArdle – who lived alongside Kate at the University of St Andrews – revealed that the future wife of Prince William was known as ‘Beautiful Kate’ in their halls of residence. 

The royal couple both lived at St Salvator’s halls at St Andrews University in their first year of University, which is where they met and struck up a fast friendship.

McArdle told the program: “I was in the room next door to Kate Middleton in first year.

“She was known as ‘Beautiful Kate’ almost from day one.”

Helen continued: “She certainly became very good friends with William and his friends from Eton very quickly – they seemed to form a very tight group.”
