After a terrifying mid-air emergency that forced their plane to turn back on October 17, Prince William and Kate Middleton have attempted round two, heading to the airport in the Pakistani city of Lahore once again to make their way back to Islamabad.
The Duchess of Cambridge looked understandably nervous as she approached the RAF Voyager on Friday morning with a hand held to her chest, her husband appearing no less concerned beside her.
And it’s no surprise, after other passengers on the failed flight described just how terrifying it really was.

According to the Mirror, one said it was a “pretty serious storm”, describing the flight as a “rollercoaster”.
“It was pretty hairy at times,” another said.
“The plane was making large jerking movements as we tried to battle through the wind. It was a relief to land safely in Lahore.”
But Kate was able to offer a small smile as she turned while alighting the stairs to the plane, glancing back at media watching the royal couple’s departure.
During their unexpected overnight stay, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stayed at the beautiful Pearl-Continental Hotel, reports the Mirror.
“Our hotel rooms offer absolute comfort and a design sensibility inspired by soft, muted colour tones,” reads the chic accommodation’s website.
“Whether you choose any one of our suites or opt for a room, you can always be sure of a fantastic sleep to leave you feeling refreshed and revitalised.”
And while she may have seemed hesitant to get back on the plane, Kate did look like she’d had a wonderful night’s sleep – and was, as usual, showing off her style chops.
The Duchess of Cambridge was dressed in a chic white ensemble with black embroidered detailing and her signature nude pumps for the journey, carrying a sleek black tote and sporting an immaculate blow-dry.
The pair no doubt stayed in the top-of-the-line Presidential Suite at the luxurious Pearl-Continental, which costs somewhere around $800 a night.
“Luxuriate yourself in our elegantly-designed Presidential Suite, and unwind in the master bedroom that offers views of the cityscape,” boasts the Pearl-Continental’s website.
Sounds fit for royalty indeed – and just what the pair needed after the terrifying events that had occurred in the air.
After finally landing safely, it is believed Prince William made a joke about the ordeal saying: “That was flying.”
“Fortunately William has taken it in his stride – he just came back down the plane to see if we were all ok and joked that he was flying,” revealed correspondent for the Daily Mail Rebecca English.
It’s been a dramatic end to an otherwise very successful five-day tour of Pakistan for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
On Thursday, before the in-flight drama occurred, the royal couple visited the stunning Badshahi Mosque in the heart of the Walled City.
According to Express, William and Kate were invited to the mosque by Imam Abdul Kabir Azad and Britain’s Honorary Consul Fakir Aijaz Uddin.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took off their shoes as they entered the courtyard, and walked towards what was considered the most iconic place of worship in the city.
Over lunch, Kate had changed into a green shalwar kameez by Maheen Khan.
Over the course of their whirlwind trip, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have also visited the National Cricket Academy and the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital.
