Eagled-eyed royal enthusiasts spotted Meghan, 37, wearing a huge jewel on her ring finger with many speculating the piece is a second, more personal engagement token from the Duke of Sussex.

Inlaid with a large rare ruby, the ring comes from one of Duchess Meghan’s favourite jewellers – ethical Canadian designer Ecksand.

The handcrafted accessory is made from sustainably sourced ‘5.40 carat cabochon faceted cut ruby’ with pave diamonds peppered round the 18 carat yellow gold band.

Meghan’s ring is worth a reported $2,271.54 AUD.

Ecksand describes the jewel as ‘a ruby like you’ve never seen before’.

The Duchess of Sussex is known for her preference for sustainable fashion and is a long-time champion of small local businesses.

During her 2018 tour of Oceania, the newly-minted royal coined the term ‘The Meghan Markle Effect’ which refers to the commercial impact on clothing and accessories worn by HRH.

Australian brands such as Outland Denim and New Zealand designer Maggie Marilyn felt the benefit of the Meghan Effect, with Marilyn reporting a seven-fold increase in social media engagement and direct customer requests.
