How Meghan copied Kate during Moroccan tour

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery!

She was vocal about her wish to “hit the ground running” and forge her own path as a newly-minted Duchess, but it seems Meghan Markle isn’t ashamed of reverting to the royal rulebook – when it comes to style, at least.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex touched down in Casablanca on Saturday night for a three-day tour of Morocco and it’s clear that Meghan has been taking her sartorial cues from sister-in-law and more seasoned Duchess, Kate Middleton.

Meghan stepped out in stunning style for a dinner at the British Ambassador’s residence in Casablanca on Monday, wearing an Arabian caftan inspired custom Dior gown.

The mother-to-be teamed the caped, camel dress with a satin clutch – also by Dior – and a sedate pair of pointed gold stilettos.

Meghan, who is thought to be seven months pregnant, styled her raven hair in one of her trademark sleek buns and finished the look with dainty diamond earrings.

She is likely to have drawn inspiration from the Duchess of Cambridge, who stunned in a remarkably similar Alexander McQueen gown whilst pregnant with Prince Louis for an event at Norway’s Royal Palace exactly one year ago.

The sartorial similarities between the sisters didn’t stop there, with Meghan opting for another Kate-inspired design for her last day of engagements.

The former Suits actress donned a custom Carolina Herrera maxi dress for a meeting with King Mohammed VI.

Her patterned blue ensemble and hairstyle bore a striking resemblance to an Erdem look worn by Kate Middleton during a royal visit to the Swedish capital of Stockholm in January 2018.

Days earlier, Meghan disembarked at Rabat airport wearing a bold red dress by Valentino with a pair of pointed nude stilettos and a matching nude clutch.

Duchess Catherine – who relies on stylist Natasha Archer Jackson – often wears red, high neck outfits with nude accessories.

Meghan’s Moroccan arrival outfit could be compared to a scarlet L.K. Bennett dress, beige clutch and matching nude stilettos worn by Kate to a charity event in London in 2016.
