According to HELLO!, the Duchess opened up about her own shyness while speaking to one of the children who had been invited to the event.

Caring Kate, 37, had noticed that eight-year-old Khareesha James was feeling shy as they visited the garden together.

So the mum-of-three took the schoolgirl into one of the fabric dens for a chat and confessed she likes to hide in them when she’s feeling shy.

Speaking to HELLO! after her meeting with the Duchess, Khareesha said: “I am shy and she said that’s where she goes when she’s shy – in the tent.”

Khareesha’s mum Sophie Dowd told the publication: “Khareesha is very shy – she doesn’t talk too much to people – and she [Kate] took her over to speak to her. She was really nice with her.”

Duchess Kate’s caring nature is often evident as she mothers her own children, Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1.

She’s also spoken in the past about teaching her children the value of showing affection, declaring “hugs are very important”.

Speaking at a meet and greet in Basildon, UK, in October the duchess could be heard telling one lady who couldn’t resist hugging Kate: “Thank you very much, hugs are very important, I keep saying that to my children.”
