The wife of the future King of England, Prince Charles, found herself as the subject of an online poll by Express.co.uk, which asked whether readers thought Camilla should become Queen when Charles takes the throne.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told the publication that Camilla will be granted the prestigious title despite her “unpopularity” in the public eye – and the poll seems to back up his statement.
The online poll currently shows just 26% of people want Camilla to be given the title of Queen, while 72% say they don’t think she should be given the title, and 2% don’t know.
The slight came as Camilla celebrated her birthday in Devon, where she is currently on tour with Prince Charles.
Prince Charles and Camilla have had a complicated romance.
After meeting in the early 1970s, the pair ended up marrying other people – Camilla married Andrew Parker Bowles, and Charles married Lady Diana Spencer.
While both their respective marriages broke down in the 1990s, it took until 2005 for the pair to finally marry.
Whether or not Camilla will be known as Queen Consort when Charles becomes King won’t be announced until his accession to the throne.
