Camilla Parker Bowles was apparently furious at her husband Prince Charles and firmly stood her ground in a truly shocking confrontation, according to royal biographer Tom Bower.
How royals feared Kate would become the second Camilla!
In the explosive 2018 royal biography, Bower writes that on September 22, 1999, Camilla chose to “lay down the law” to Prince Charles from her suite in New York’s Carlyle Hotel.
In Rebel Prince Bower claims that at the centre of the argument was Camilla’s planned visit to the US, which was going to be a high-profile affair. Although Camilla was keen about the trip, higher-ups in government were protesting Camilla’s involvement due to it being a bad PR move for the royal family.
According to Bower, when Camilla caught wind that officials were attempting to stop her public appearance with Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall told the Prince of Wales: “I won’t stop it. It’s my life and it’s the right thing to do.”

Mr Bower claims Camilla was hell-bent on making the trip a success after Diana and Charles 1985 trip to the United States was such met with glorious praise.
Amongst the trips more special moments was when Diana danced with former US President Ronald Reagan and, more famously, with Hollywood actor John Travolta.

Mr Bower claims it would take many years before Camilla could be seen out with Charles because her public image as a “privileged, fox-hunting mistress” was seen as too much of a hindrance to the royal family.
