Another day, another right royal evening with Donald Trump, as the US president’s visit to Great Britain saw Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, attend the residence of the US Ambassador, Winfield House, for a black-tie dinner.

Looking understated but elegant in a white Fiona Clare evening gown, Camilla contrasted with former model turned first lady Melania’s striking red cape-inspired gown.

Withdrawing to the lounge for a sip of wine with Melania and Suzanne Ircha, the wife of the US Ambassador, Camilla almost disappeared into the pale couch.

Perhaps enjoying the chance for a tipple away from the famously anti-alcohol President, the women were all smiles as they sipped wine and chatted in the gilded surrounds.

While the gold-infused dining room was certainly flashy, when it came time to sit down for dinner, the meal was much more to the simple tastes of the president than the previous night’s fancy dining at Buckingham Palace. Instead of steamed halibut and strawberry sable, the menu included simple beef, potatoes and vanilla ice cream, and a Diet Coke for the president.

The evening proceeded without a hitch, with an animated Prince Charles appearing to enjoy the conversation at the table with the President, and Camilla apparently escaping censure after her cheeky wink behind Trump’s back at Buckingham Palace yesterday went viral around the world.
