Taking to the podcast On Heir, Omid claims that Prince William stuck up for his sibling and suggested more money be thrown at creating a team for him and his wife.
“Prince Harry is not a direct Heir to the throne and only a direct Heir to the throne can have their own household,” Omid explains.
“And It was actually Prince William who had to step in and fight to get Harry a little bit more money spent on building a team. Because he understands what this means to Harry and how much he wants to achieve and also, how important Meghan and Harry are for the image and the brand of the Royal Family.”
It comes after it was revealed that the Queen reportedly put her foot down and rejected Harry and Meghan’s request to move away from the Cambridges and be entirely independent from the royal family.
The couple, who are expecting their first child, are hoping to build their own brand with a strong focus on philanthropy and humanitarianism.
A source told the Sunday Times: “There is an institutional structure that doesn’t allow that kind of independence. The feeling is that it’s good to have the Sussexes under the jurisdiction of Buckingham Palace, so they can’t just go off and do their own thing.”
