Speaking 9Entertainment ahead of the new season launch, Scotty Cam described the new season as “next level.”

“We’re upsizing family homes and they’re next level. It will be an inspiration for families watching at home – what they can achieve and maybe something they can do to their own home.”

Channel Nine’s Head of Content and Production, Adrian Swift also added his two cents about the 19th season.

“It’s part of Nine’s DNA. It is our touchstone program…,” Adrian said.

“This season is very much like MAFS and you’ll see what these crazy kids get up to, but the MAFS dinner parties have nothing on this season of The Block.”

“And it is a little bit like the News because have you ever been in a meeting where we set the reserves? There’s every chance someone will die. And that will make it on the News that night,” he joked.

When does The Block 2023 premiere?

Channel Nine has confirmed that the new season of The Block will premiere on Sunday, August 6th, 2023 at 7pm.

Filming commenced in late March and wrapped up in late June following a three-month shoot.

Who is judging The Block 2023?

Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer, and Neale Whitaker are all returning to judge the show alongside a new addition of real estate tycoon Marty Fox.

Taking to his Instagram in July 2023, Neale revealed that Marty would be stepping in as a judge to allow him to step back, and spend more time with his family.

“I’m very proud to be completing my 17th season as a judge on The Block. It’s an amazing privilege to have been part of this iconic show for 13 tears,” Neale wrote.

“For the 2023 season, however, I’ve put family first and cut back on my judging weeks. My partner of 20 years, David, experienced some health issues earlier this year and my priority has been to spend more time at home.

“But I’m happy to announce that real estate guru Marty Fox has been able to bring his expertise to The Block and join Shaynna and Darren on the weeks when I couldn’t be there.”

“The best news of all is that David is making a great recovery, and I’m looking forward to returning to The Block full-time for the show’s 20th anniversary season in 2024.”

Shelley Craft and Scotty Cam will also return to co-host the show.

Will there be a theme?

During filming, previous competitors Tom Calleja and Duncan Miller were spotted on set, giving life to rumours of a potential All-Stars season, however now that the cast has been released, we know this is not the case.

Instead, audiences can look forward to seeing these fan favourites appear as being a ‘hipages’ lever that teams can pull for extra support.

Tom specifically has also been confirmed by Channel Nine as the site’s official plumber for the series.

“I’m loving being back, it was an honour to be asked. I’m having an absolute blast and it’s great to be on the other side after being a contestant last year,” he told Channel Nine.

What we do know for sure is the 1950s theme this season of The Block is going for as the contestants renovate five “authentic ’50s dream homes” straight from a time when the “burbs were pretty bloody perfect” – at least according to Scotty Cam.

Where is The Block 2023 being filmed?

In 2022, the network purchased five classic 50s-style brick homes on Charming Street, Hampton East, Melbourne for a total sum of $14.3 million.

Numbers 14 through 22 Charming Street sit on blocks ranging from 575sqm to 703sqm.

The Block was previously filmed in the neighbouring suburb of Bayside in 2021.

Who are the contestants on The Block 2023?

Cast members were finally revealed by Channel Nine just days after filming officially wrapped.

Renovators include Kyle and Leslie, Liberty and Eliza, Gian and Steph, Ash and Leah, and Kristy and Brett.

Speaking to TV Tonight, Executive Producer Julian Cress described the cast as “bloody awesome.”

“One of the challenges that I think we faced as producers, bringing the show to a much smaller scale than last season was that it would need to be noisier in other ways. So we were conscious of finding some very, very competitive people who would bring their all to it and really give us an A-grade competition. And they have done exactly that.”

When will The Block auction be for 2023?

The Block auctions are usually around November based on an August premiere date.
