‘Paddocks is currently not open for business. We apologise for the inconvenience.’

Located on 42 acres [17 hectares], the 100-year-old hobby farm, which the couple are believed to have purchased for around $805,000, features two self-contained suites that are ideal for couples. \Booking sites describe the accommodation as ‘a must in the Barossa’ with rooms available from about $290 a night.

While the reason behind its closure is not yet known, Spence, a prestige award-winning builder, is believed to have sold his Grand Designs featured Park Orchards home for an asking price of $3 million in order to purchase the Barossa property.

‘It was quite a special house,’ Spence, 46, says of the bespoke four-bedroom home.

‘It had a lot of glass, a lot of timber and rammed earth…it was on two-thirds of an acre.’
