Last night Australia’s nation died as Brooke left The Bachelor mansion heartbroken as Nick Cummins was unable to lay his heart on the line.
And in the grand finale he has to choose between Brittany and Sophie. But will he actually commit to anyone?
Osher begins the episode with a long gushy intro about whether Nick will find his true love and the camera pans with Nick in New Caledonia.
“Holy struth talk about roller coaster rides… can’t believe this is coming to an end. I’m hardly your good-looking rooster… I came here to find the love of my life and I have two lovely girls… Britt and Soph,” Nick begins. YES WE KNOW NICK, HURRY UP AND TELL US HOW YOU ACTUALLY FEEL DAMMIT.
“Tell you what got meself into a bit of strife here. Is one of these amazing girls going to be the woman I grow old with?” Nick laments.
The camera pans to frontrunner Brittany: “I’m so close to being ridiculously happy or ridiculously heartbroken,” she says.
Then the camera pans to rumoured runner-up Sophie who previously has struggled with her feelings, “I can’t imagine with my life without Nick… it’s absolutely crucial I give Nick everything I can before it’s too late,” she says.
We’re now with Nick’s family. “Do you reckon Nick’s in love?” questions Bernadette. “I wonder where’s that lovely Brooke…I wouldn’t be surprised if she wasn’t in the final two girls…” she says blindly. SHE’S GONE BERNADETTE. SHE’S GONE…
Nick then sits down to explain about the two girls left. The family’s faces drop as they realise Brooke isn’t in the picture anymore.
“Brooke… what happened?” Bernadette presses. Nick looks down at his feet and takes a big gulp. “Yeah she said she missed her family… so painfully I let her go…” YEAH, NAH…THAT’S NOT QUITE RIGHT NICK.
Now we’re back with Brittany and Nick greets her with a giant hug. He takes her to meet his fam bam.
Nick’s brother Luke gives her a good once over. Brittany sits down and she’s nervous as hell… she feels her voice off key.
They all have a very cosy chat, they laugh a lot. We all temporarily go to sleep.
Now Brittany is talking alone with Bernadette. Brittany talks about having babies and settling down. Bernadette is worried. She’s not sure if Nick is ready. DAMN RIGHT BERNADETTE.
Then Brittany drops the L word and says “I just think he’s the best thing since slice bread” Bernadette grins back at her maniacally. “Mmm that’s great, yeah great…” Nick’s sister says unconvincingly.
Then there all together again and Nick says something to make Brittany throw daggers.
His dad asks how Nick is feeling and AGAIN he struggles to say how he really feels. Brittany feels unloved “It’s like saying you’re great but not that great…”
After Brittany’s ovaries have exploded along with her brain, Nick is now with Sophie.
She rocks up to see the family and Bernadette gives her a warm hug then Nick waffles on about his journey with Soph… then Soph talks about jet skiing and Bernadette feels she brings out the young side in Nick.
Meanwhile Sophie feels like Luke is ‘analysing her’ and she’s right. He pulls her over for a good grilling.
“Ya must be feeling pretty vulnerable right now?” Luke says with narrowed eyes.
“Oh ya totally…” Sophie waffles on. But Luke needs answers.
“Do ya love him?” He says putting her right on the spot.
“I’m scared to say that… yeah umm he keeps growing on me … umm the situation is tough,” then Sophie starts to cry. “I just find it difficult.” But Luke feels she’s genuine and legit and he’s happy she’s wearing her heart on her sleeve.
“I’ve let all my barriers down and I’m so happy…” Sophie gushes.
Now it’s sit down time with the fam bam and Nick wants answers on what they think. They feel Britt is spiritual but Soph is like a jack-in-the-box. Bernadette sees both the girls right and wrong for Nick. And she doesn’t really see either of the girls is the right package for him.
Now Nick is even more confused. But Nick’s dad thinks he’ll eventually come to the right decision.
“I’m all over the shop…” admits Nick. We’re inclined to agree.
But thankfully he’s off to go jetskiing with Sophie again and hopefully it will drill some sense into him.
They then head to the sand and Nick puts on a terrible French accent grabs Sophie then throws her on the sand for a big smooch.
Sophie then sees her future with Nick. “Life with Nick will be bigger and better…” she gushes.
Later they sit around a fire and discuss their feeling and Sophie struggles to tell her how she feels. Nick looks confused again.
“It’s clear I’m falling in love with you…” she begins and Nick goes in for the kiss. SAY SOMETHING NICK, SAY SOMETHING NICE.
But he finds it hard to say anything and continues to kiss her as he has no idea what to say to her. He’s totally confused.
Now we’re with Britt and Nick takes her for a ride on a helicopter.
“The thing I love about Britt… we’re like bangers and mash we just go together.”
They head to a tree house. They stare at the views again. Then they have a heart to heart. Brittany tells him how “everything makes sense” since he came into her life.
“I’m falling in love with you head over heels…” she adds.
Nick looks at her blankly. “Oh gawd…” he says before kissing her. SAY SOMETHING NICK, SAY SOMETHING.
“Oh Britt… Nick begins. Umm. I want all the same things I do…But I just don’t know if the timelines match…”
Now Brittany is confused. Why is there always a but she questions. “When I look at you ooze this energy, it’s happy and satisfied and I want that, but the doubt is around me…” Nick says, like he’s saying, it’s not you, it’s me…
When Brittany hears that she starts to cry. She’s tries to convince him how perfect it all is. Nick mumbles that “he hears her” but he says he’s still trying to work his own head out. SO ARE WE NICK, SO ARE WE.
It’s crunch time. Now Nick puts his suit and he’s got to make the final decision.
Brittany puts on her (wedding) dress and she’s hoping for marriage and babies but she’s unsure about last night’s chat.
Sophie on the other hand is talking about having a ‘hell of a ride’ and ‘wanting to conquer the world with him’.
Nick picks up what appears to be a ring. OOH ENGAGEMENT! He talks about being ready. ARE YOU ACTUALLY GOING TO COMMIT NICK?
Nick meets with Osher and mumbles a few words about rugby and tackling. Sophie is the first one out of the car… BYE, BYE SOPHIE…
Dramatic music plays. Osher looks at Sophie sadly. Sophie rambles on about her feelings growing and growing. SO SORRY SOPHIE…
Nick serves her the final words. Sophie wishes him and Brittany the “best of luck.” OUR HEART BREAKS FOR YOU SOPH-A-LOAF.
Now it’s Brittany’s turn. She walks up to Nick.
“It’s been a hell of a ride…you know when I say to you you’re an amazing woman. I’ve developed strong feelings for you Brittany and I know you’re ready. When I say those three words I want to really mean it…” Nick begins. SAY IT NICK, SAY IT.
“And right now I can’t give 100 per cent of me to you. My head is very cloudy. Right now I’m a little bit lost. This time has come to an end and I have to let you go…”
WHAT THE HELL? DID HE JUST NOT CHOOSE ANYONE?
They say their goodbyes. WHO THE HELL WAS THE RING FOR?
“I hate hurting people…” adds Nick. BRING BACK BROOKE, BRING HER BACK NICK!
The two girls then get together and both realise that Nick picked no one and discuss how Nick was lost.
The laugh they cry and decide ‘it’s his loss.’
The camera then pans back to red-faced Nick. “I came her to find love…but I have to just go back and look, if she’s out there…”
WHAT A SHOCKER.
