Love Island Australia’s Cassie auditions for The X-Factor UK

Back in 2013, a then 20-year-old Cassie appeared in the audition rounds of The X-Factor UK.

Cass was part of a singing duo named ‘Duplex’ with her friend Katrina, and the pair hoped to make it through into the talent competition – and to go “worldwide”.

“We’re called Duplex because we’re literally a duplicate of one another,” Cassie proudly declared as they made their way in front of the judges.

But there was one problem – the duo couldn’t sing.

In the recently uncovered clip (above), Cass and her pal passionately performed a song by Cheryl Cole.

However, the judging panel, which was made up of Australia’s Got Talent judge Nicole Scherzinger, Osborne family matriarch, Sharon Osborne, Take That’s Gary Barlow and music producer, Louis Walsh, were visibly pained by the performance.

Cassie, who looked very different to how she does in the villa, with platinum blonde hair and a perpetual grin, had the smile wiped from her face when Gary Barlow branded the performance “woeful”.

“You really are one in the same person in that you both can’t sing,” said Take That singer Gary.

“It’s probably just the nerves,” Katrina replied, but Gary wasn’t convinced.

“No, no it’s not the nerves you just really can’t sing,” he said.
