Dave & Mel

At the end of their tether, Gold Coast couple Dave and Mel are desperate to win House Rules in a bid to save their family. Mel, 34, entered them into the competition in an attempt to bring Dave home from his fly-in-fly-out job, which sees him away from home half the year. A self-confessed control freak, Mel also says it was her idea to buy the home they share with their two sons, Westin, five, and Billy, three.

‘We bought this house without an inspection,’ she says.

The engaged NSW couple are the parents of 18-month-old twins, Lenny and Layla, and live in a 150-year-old rundown inn.

‘We’ve got a really big old house that needs to be fixed,’ Mandy, 28, says.

According to Toad, 32: ‘We’re open to the elements. The winds blow in from the west, the doors rattle. One time, it blew the screen right out and smashed the glass!’

Josh & Brandon

Meet the laid-back country Queensland brothers, Josh and Brandon. Both tradies, when they’re not wakeboarding, restoring old cars, singing country music, or speedway racing, the cheeky chippies are working hard on building sites.

From Maryborough, Queensland, Josh, 23, and Brandon, 21, were only teenagers when they scraped together enough money for a deposit on an old fixer-upper!

Introducing the first-ever mother and daughter team to compete in House Rules!

Mum Kim, 59, and her daughter Michelle, 27, are crammed into a tiny three bedroom house with five other people in Tweed Heads.

‘Living in this house is my mum, myself, my two daughters, my sister Melissa, her son Cory and my dad,’ Michelle spills.

The northern NSW property was once owned by Kim’s husband’s family, and they are keen to see it handed down.
