Ange, who is in a same sex relationship with Dylan, is butting heads with her extremely religious dad John who sees her sexual preference as a sin.

In a bid to hear him out, Ange is hopeful that her dad will come around.

‘What do you think your mum would have thought of this’ asks John.

‘I think your infatuation with women is because of the loss of your mother…I’m trying to tell you you’re confused,’ he insists suggesting she is not really gay.

‘Going down that path… you are saying no to god. I want you to be at the pearly gates with your mother and I’m afraid you’re making a mistake,’ he adds.

Frustrated Ange later tells the camera: ‘I’m not happy. I’m not confused.’

‘Stop trying to mould me. You’re supposed to love me unconditionally,’ she laments.

The forklift driver thinks it is just a phase for Ange and although he likes Dylan, he believes Ange won’t be truly happy until she is with a man.

‘God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. He didn’t put two boys in the garden. I don’t believe in relationships with two boys and two girls – it’s just not right. In the Old Testament, it’s an abomination to the Lord.’

John feels the passing of Ange’s mother Greta from breast cancer when Ange was six also had an impact on Ange’s sexuality. ‘I love my daughter, but it’s not what I raised her to be. Had her mother been there she would have taught her something different.’

John would like to see Ange ‘nip it in the bud with Dylan’ and move on with her life. ‘I would like her to meet Prince Charming, get married and live happily ever after.’

Ange wants her dad to see who she really is and the happiness she already has. ‘I want my dad to be at the wedding to celebrate his daughter finding someone she loves, someone she wants to spend her life with.’
