Seyat’s mother Fatima has persistently expressed her displeasure at her son marrying his young fiancé Jess on Bride and Prejudice.
Throughout the series we have seen Fatima hurl insults at Jess and right up until the wedding night she threatened to ruin their nuptials.
“You’re too young Seyat. You don’t need to get married now,” she told her son the night before the wedding.
“I’m not happy. I’ve been crying non-stop,” she continued.
Then when the day finally arrives, Fatima can’t help but display her displeasure. She looks furious and ready to stir trouble.
Walking up the aisle Seyat can be heard saying “she looks like she’s going to my funeral not my wedding!”
Terrified that his mother will ruin his special day, Seyat remains uncomfortable, particularly when the celebrant invites anyone to speak before the vows take place.
Fatima is seen fidgeting and looks like she’s about to get up and speak, yet at the last minute she stays put.
Later she is heard telling the camera. “It’s his wedding, what can I say but be there for him.”
She later expresses her fury and believes the marriage won’t last and is destined for failure. Jess’s mother also says she hopes she won’t become ‘the mother-in-law from hell.’
Jess is hopeful Fatima won’t be too challenging but is ready for the fight, come what may.
