The block colours are also a way for royal fans to catch a glimpse of the Queen while in large crowds.
“It means she can be always be identified, not only by those looking after her but by everyone in the crowd,” explains Ormerod.
Ormerod also notes: “It has become her serious style signature. It has a multi-purpose value for her.”
According to the Queen’s biographer Robert Hardman, she once said: “I can never wear beige because nobody will know who I am."
Sophie, Countess of Wessex, also explains how the Queen thinks about her public appearances.
