At 93, Queen Elizabeth has garnered herself a reputation as one of the hardest working monarchs ever, still averaging around 200 official royal engagements every year despite her husband, Prince Philip, announcing his retirement.
Despite her reputation, the Queen has been forced to take time off on the rare occasion, including in 2018 when she had to undergo a cataract procedure.

Following such a surgery, patients usually take at least four to six weeks off to recover, however, the Queen did not allow herself the luxury, instead choosing to don a pair of sunglasses and resume her work immediately - not cancelling or postponing a single royal engagement in the process.

Similarly, Queen Elizabeth has had issues with her right knee, having to undergo a minor operation to remove torn cartilage in 2003.
At the time Buckingham Palace released the following statement: "The Queen is expected to be fully active again within a few weeks.
"Her Majesty will rest at Sandringham over the next two weeks and will then resume a limited programme of engagements until she has made a full recovery."
However, Her Majesty's knee has continued to play up, with a source recently revealing she has continued to attend events - such as the Chelsea Flower Show - in spite of her discomfort.

A Palace source said last year: “She was talking to friends at the Chelsea Flower Show and said her knees were playing up.
“But she is reluctant to have an op due to the time it would take to recover. She is incredibly brave.
“People from her and Philip’s generation battle through problems and carry on. And Her Majesty doesn’t like to cause any fuss.”
