In a new British documentary that aired Tuesday night, veteran royal reporters revealed that Princess Diana was cruelly mocked by the royal family for bringing the perception of the monarchy "down to a human level".

In Paxman on the Queen’s Children Daily Mail editor Richard Kay spoke about the monarchy's public image and their treatment of Diana at the time.
Mr Kay said: “They really had to do something to address the popularity, not just of the Prince of Wales, which was absolutely on the floor, but also the whole approach to monarchy.
"It was still rather distant.
"The only one who had brought it down to a human level was Diana."
Royal biographer Gyles Brandreth added: “The Queen is aware when she gets it wrong.”
