The Royal Family Instagram account also confirmed the engagement yesterday on behalf of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duke and Duchess of York.
"The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Beatrice to Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi," the caption read, announcing that the royal wedding will be married next year.
"Her Royal Highness and Mr Mapelli Mozzi became engaged in Italy earlier this month. The wedding will take place in 2020."
According to Town and Country, the Duke and Duchess of York shared how excited they were in the following statement:
"We are thrilled that Beatrice and Edoardo have got engaged, having watched their relationship develop with pride," it read. "We are the lucky parents of a wonderful daughter who has found her love and companion in a completely devoted friend and loyal young man. We send them every good wish for a wonderful family future."
Afterwards, Beatrice's mother Sarah also posted on Instagram congratulating the pair, sharing black and white photos of Edoardo and Beatrice.
"I know what a mother feels so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news. Andrew and I are just the luckiest people ever to have two great sons in law. @princesseugenie took the colour photographs as my girls are so close. Beatrice and Edo wanted her to capture this special moment," Sarah wrote in the caption.
