The Prince’s absence wasn’t the only one that went noticed, Prince William and Kate Middleton also failed to attend the event as they were undertaking royal duties for St Patrick’s Day.
However, no reason has been provided for the duke’s failure to attend the event and royal watchers are concerned that it could be due to ailing health.
What’s more the prince has rarely been seen since his car accident in January.
While the prince was not injured in the crash that flipped his car onto its side Philip is said to have been shook by the incident.
Of course, Philip’s decision not to attend the christening could just be a desire to take on less commitments in his old age.
Back in 2017, the Duke of Edinburgh retired from official royal duties, however he has also cut back on family events and also missed the christening of his great-grandson, Prince Louis.
Fingers crossed we see the duke out about soon!
