In a new column Morgan wrote for the Daily Mail, Piers slams the Duke of Edinburgh and recounts an unpleasant run-in with the royal some 20 years ago.
He begins the piece, which calls the Duke 'insensitive', 'arrogant' and 'stubborn' among other things, with: “Prince Philip is the rudest human being I have ever met.”
The alleged run-in happened at Buckingham Palace when Morgan was attending Prince Charles 50th birthday party.
Morgan describes how Philip "marched towards us", and when he held out his hand to the royal to shake, "he [Philip] ignored it."
At the time, Piers was the editor for the tabloid newspaper the Daily Mirror, which he confessed to the Duke after her "barked menacingly, who are you?"
Morgan writes: "'Well sir,’ I replied, ‘I’m afraid you are currently surrounded by the tabloid press.’"
"He stared at me like I’d just told him I’d like fried Corgi for supper, with open-mouthed disgust and revulsion."
Prince Philip has also recently come under fire from the Emma Fairweather, the passenger who broke her wrist in last weeks horrific car acccident after she received a message from the Queen – but was not contacted by Philip.
Emma Fairweather told the Daily Mirror a member of the Queen’s staff left a voice message after trying to ring her to find out how she was following the incident that left her with a broken wrist.
The 46-year-old said it was “confusing” to receive a message “from someone else’s partner who wasn’t involved in the accident”.
“While it’s nice the Queen has seen it may be appropriate to ask one of her staff to contact me and wish me well, she wasn’t involved in the accident.
“I’m still quite surprised that Prince Philip hasn’t felt he wants to contact me and inquire as to how I am.”
