According to a once-prominent member of staff at the royal household, the happy couple will announce their marriage plans by Christmas.
Speaking with Hello!, the former chef to Princess Diana and her two sons, Darren MCGrady, explained the pair have purposely delayed taking the next step in their relationship to avoid clashing with other important events on the calendar.
“I really do think they would have been engaged by now,” he told the publication.
“But Princess Diana’s 20th anniversary this month in August, they can’t trump that. And then November is the Queen and prince Philip’s platinum wedding anniversary so they can’t trump that either, whereas December they can announce the engagement and they’d be free to marry next year.”
McGrady - who describes Meghan as being “naturally like Diana” - added that the American actress would then be able to join the royal family at Sandringham for their traditional holiday celebrations.
Just last month a close friend of Harry’s also let it slip that a wedding was on the cards.
When asked by a reported whether she was attending the 32-year-old’s “upcoming” nuptials, US marine, Kristie Ennis nodded and said: “I don’t think I’m worried about the wedding. I’m worried about the after party.”
But a well-placed palace source claims the lovebirds have bigger plans for their future together.
“Harry and Meghan have no doubt where this relationship is going – wedding and babies,” the source told New Idea.
“While they’re excited about getting married, what they’re really looking forward to is starting a family.
