Prince Harry has warned Camilla to ‘back off ’ over cruel attacks on his girlfriend Meghan Markle, amid claims that the Duchess of Cornwall has been ‘bad-mouthing’ the actress.
‘Camilla is more excited than ever about becoming queen,’ says a source.
‘But with the rise of the “Young Royals” – William, Harry, Kate and Meghan – and hearing the Queen say they’re the future of the monarchy, Camilla is upset.
‘She can see that the public are loving Harry’s romance with Meghan. She was the one behind the whispers that the dress Meghan wore to Pippa’s wedding was inappropriate.
‘But Harry’s having none of it. He won’t let Camilla ruin her the way she’s tried to ruin Kate.’
Harry’s difficult relationship with Camilla is well known.
Last week it emerged Harry, 32, was left bewildered at age 12 by the death of his mother Princess Diana, and confused that his father Charles, 68, carried on as normal hours after her death.
‘Prince Harry actually asked his father: “Is it true... Mummy’s dead?”’ biographer Tina Brown revealed in the TV doco Diana: 7 Days That Shook The Windsors.
The new details of Harry’s troubles with his stepmother come just days after Camilla, 69, gave an unauthorised interview.
The public backlash when her affair with Charles – still married to Diana – was exposed ‘was horrid’, Camilla told The Mail On Sunday. ‘It was a deeply unpleasant time.’
Palace officials tell New Idea the Queen was ‘furious’ the duchess ‘went rogue’ after being ordered to lie low leading up to the anniversary of Diana’s death.
