Prince George is going to be the King of England someday, so it's not surprising that there are certain rules he must follow.
One of those royal rules includes the now five-year-old prince's attire, and it's quite odd.
George is not allowed to wear pants until he turns eight, answering the question as to why the young royal is always seen sporting shorts - even in the cold.
According to Express, George will not graduate to full pants until his eighth birthday, in 2021.
This is apparently a rite of passage that dates back to the 16th century and something his three-month-old brother Louis will also have to do.
George has only ever been spotted wearing pants once - at his uncle Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle in May.
This was presumably so he could match with the fellow page boys, who were not royalty.
