Prince Charles has taken quite a lot of heat over revelations in the new book Rebel Prince: The Power, Passion And Defiance Of Prince Charles. So it’s little wonder he was less-than-impressed when confronted by one of the more embarrassing claims while on a walkabout in Brisbane.
The book – which among other things contains the claim that the prince travels with ‘his orthopaedic bed, personal toilet seat, Kleenex Premium Comfort toilet paper, fresh linen a chest of drawers and two landscapes of the Scottish Highlands’ – has clearly rankled Charles.
When approached by Brisbane’s Hit105 reporter Jase, from Stav, Abby and Matt's breakfast radio show, about whether ‘it’s true that you carry your own toilet seat when you travel’ Charles was taken aback. And probably not just because the impromptu 'interview' was a major violation of protocol.
Apparently used to a more tame British press not approaching him during designated public meet and greets, Charles responded ‘I WHAT?’
When the question was repeated, a potty-mouthed Charles responded, ‘Oh, DON’T believe all that CRAP. The VERY IDEA.’
A similar attempt to elicit a response from Camilla on the same subject was met with apparent silence – although some claim they can hear a disgruntled sigh on the radio show’s muffled audio tape.
