Over the years, Queen Elizabeth has slowly been handing over responsibilities to other members of the royal family, and while the Queen has been slowly stepping down from important ceremonies and stopped travelling abroad, Charles has picked up the slack by carrying out a whopping 507 engagements during 2018.
His son Prince William, who's second-in-line to the throne, only managed half that number.
According to Express.co.uk, the increased number of royal engagements and the significant upping of his royal duties over the last year are an indicator that Charles is preparing to be the King of England sooner rather than later.
Prince William has also increased his royal profile, with Charlie Proctor, of Royal Central, telling Daily Star Online, “In 2013, he carried our just 62 engagements. Compare that to 2018, he conducted 220 engagements which is significantly more.
“The increase in engagements shows that William is preparing to one day become Prince of Wales, and eventually King."
