Prince Andrew, who shares his daughters with his ex wife, Sarah Ferguson, was reportedly upset that the lack of funding would impact the girls' futures.
“He fears that they will be totally sidelined when the Queen dies,” the source told The Sun.
They added: “Andrew has always wanted his daughters to be full-time royals.
“He sees it as a slight on him and them if they are not," they added.
After the Queen dies, Prince Charles will ascend the throne and Prince William will become the Prince of Wales.
This could even mean that Meghan and Harry's baby Archie could command a larger role in the family, as he will be the grandson of the reigning monarch.
However, the roles for Andrew, who was once second-in-line to the throne behind Charles, and his family are less clear-cut.
It is believed, however, that Prince Edward, the Queen’s youngest son, will become Duke of Edinburgh after Prince Philip’s death, and Charles’ accession to the throne.
As for Beatrice and Eugenie, the sisters continue to make appearances alongside other royal family members, such as at the annual Trooping the Colour, and Royal Ascot.
While Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank last year, and continues to promote causes close to her heart, her sister Beatrice is dating Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, with rumours of their engagement yet to be officially confirmed.
