Pokemon Go app blamed for death of teen
A teenage boy has lost his life while playing the popular Pokemon Go app on his mobile phone.
Jerson Lopez de Leon, 18, was walking along a railroad with his cousin Daniel Moises Picen, 17, when the pair were gunned down in in Chiquimula, located 200km from Guatemala City.
Reports have claimed Jerson and Daniel, who was badly wounded, were hunting for Pokemon when they were shot down.
According to further reports, police have suggested the massively-hyped game's location features led the boys into 'a dangerous neighbourhood'.
Jerson's mother, Rosalinda, has blamed Pokemon Go for the tragic incident.
'I don’t know why my son left the house,” she told the Independent. 'He was already in bed when his cousin sent him a message asking him to go out and download a game a few blocks from the house.'
The scene of the crime was littered with almost 20 bullet casings that were allegedly shot from a white van that was seen escaping the scene.
