But he wasn’t always the man he is today, revealing in an exclusive chat with the Who Are You podcast that this path towards becoming the keenly-focussed businessman and health activist he is today wasn’t necessarily an easy or direct one.
Starting out as a young chef on the Gold Coast, Pete moved to Melbourne where he was surrounded by a working environment that many might find challenging at best, potentially destructive at worst.
‘The Gold Coast culinary scene at the time was full of alcohol and speed as the drugs of choice, but in Melbourne it was very different, it was more of the LSD, ecstasy, cocaine and alcohol-fuelled environment that I stepped into as a young 18-year-old,’ he told interviewer Pete Timbs on Who Are You.
That era including working up to 110 hours a week, and was a trial by fire that Pete is happy to talk about.
‘That was a moment of growth,’ recalls Pete. ‘I got to learn to cook with some amazing people, and I got to experience some new experiences that have helped shape who I am, as well.
‘I was burning the candle at both ends as a lot of young chefs have experienced, I was working 100-110 hours a week and still going out and partying, and it was a wild ride, that’s for sure.
So, I have experienced quite a lot through this lifetime.’
But things took a whole new direction one day, when a chance encounter helped Pete to see the world in a whole new way and open up new directions.
‘I was close to 20, and I read a book at this hairdresser, a book by Anthony Robbins called Unlimited Power.
‘After 20 minutes of reading it, I was hooked. I had no idea of the human potential. I thought, why isn’t anyone teaching this stuff in school, why isn’t anybody talking about how to set goals, how to remove fears, about how our belief systems are set up? Why is this not a part of our education system?
‘That took me down a different path, so the partying stopped after reading that book.’
Pete – who has recently launched his own pet food line, Healthy Everyday Pets – has been pursuing a range of exciting new goals ever since.
‘I was fascinated about how we can reprogram ourselves, so if we’re in a place of darkness, and we’re searching out things in the wrong places, how do we align ourselves and use our full capacity to put ourselves into a great state of mind and manifest our own reality?’
