The grandmother of a 16-month-old boy fighting for his life has urged parents to educate themselves about meningococcal disease.
Bianca Bias posted a photo of her grandson Charlie on life support. The disease, which causes a severe red rash is visible on his little body.
‘Sorry to shock everyone and if I have offended you by posting this pic I do apologise but parents need to be educated about this ugly disease,’ she wrote. ‘I’m begging everyone, please please pray for my grandson Charlie.’
Charlie is in hospital in Adelaide. His mum noticed a few red dots and thought it was chickenpox but took him to hospital to be sure. Doctors told the family that without her quick response he would already be dead.
