A Dutch tourist has been sentenced for extramarital sex after she claimed she was raped in a high-end hotel bar in Qatar.
A one-year suspended sentence was handed to the 22-year-old, who has been held in Qatar for almost three months since reporting the incident.
The woman claims her drink was spiked at a party at W Doha Hotel’s Crystal Lounge Nightclub in the Qatar capital of Doha.
She was also fined $1145 before she was sent packing to the Netherlands.
The woman’s lawyer told Dutch media her memory of the event was hazy, however she woke up in a strange apartment with torn clothing, realising she had been sexually assaulted.
Extramarital sex is outlawed in the Muslim country.
