On-the-day voters turned out in droves to vote for the UK to be taken out of the EU.

So what does this mean?

‘Nothing happens automatically, that’s part of the reason there’s so much uncertainty,’ he said,

‘What happens next will rely on the political choices made by politicians and diplomats.’

He added, ‘The catch is, there will probably be a huge debate on when to trigger this.’

‘It’s a divorce negotiation essentially, a very complicated one.’

Prime Minister David Cameron expected to make a statement outside No.10 Downing Street later on Friday.
