This sounds awful.

Lysandra Stevens from The Block, famous for competing on the series with her twin sister, Alisa, shared a heartbreaking post about her son’s health from hospital.

The reality star shared the update on Instagram in which she revealed her son, Emerson, was suffering with croup.

She wrote: ‘It’s often a fine line deciding what we choose to share about our lives on social media. A lot we keep private and a lot we choose to share. This one I’m deciding to share, not because I want everyone to know that Emerson is in hospital with croup, but because I was naive and thought that it was only babies and toddlers that suffered from severe cases of it.
I thought my kids, Emerson (7) and Cohen (5) were past the danger age of contracting this awful virus, but I was very wrong.

She explained she mistook his symptoms for a cold, and warned other parents that older children can get croup, despite common belief otherwise.

‘I ignored my generally strong instincts, passing it off as just a common cold. At 3am Emerson woke up with a nasty cough and he was struggling to take in any air. He was taken to hospital by ambulance and 18 hours later we are still here while they monitor him closely,’ she said.

She added: ‘My message is that older kids can get severe croup (I know a lot of people might think that I am stupid and naive to think that they didn’t) but for those who were under the same belief as me, I just want to let you know that it is certainly not the case. Trust your instincts, I wish I had a bit earlier.’

‘My daughter also gets croup. It’s the most horrible thing to watch and be so helpless. Wishing your boy a speedy recovery,’ commented one.

Another said: ‘No-one thinks you are naive, nor stupid. It’s a fine line between being a ‘panicker’ or too ‘blasé’. We all try and balance that line. Good luck today. You are in the right place now. Thanks for sharing the message. Sending healing vibes to your little man.’

Lysandra and Alisa went on to start their own design consulting business following their success on The Block.
