Madison and Taylor Sheats, the two daughters shot dead by their own mother, have been laid to rest at a private funeral, reports the Daily Mail.
Madison, 17, and Taylor, 22, were buried in Limestone Memorial Gardens. A representive from Shelton Funeral Home also said that the funeral of their mother, Christy Sheats, ‘will not be here’.
Father of the two murdered daughters, Jason says his wife, Christy, spared his life because she ‘wanted him to suffer.’
Speaking to detectives, Jason said ‘he felt Christy wanted him to suffer,’ Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls told khou.com. ‘Christy knew how much he loved Taylor and Madison and how much they loved him.’
Killing his daughters on his birthday meant Jason ‘has to live with this will have to live the rest of his life with this horrible memory,’ Nehls said.
It has emerged that the Texas mum was seeking therapy for depression and several other mental illnesses. The Daily Mail has reported that Christy was admitted on three occasions to a private mental health facility and had previously been suicidal.
Sheriff Nehls revealed that Christy’s life appeared to take a turn for the worst after the death of her grandfather, who she saw as a mentor, in 2012. Christy’s mother also died a few months later.
The weapon Christy used to shoot her two daughters was a .38-calibre handgun, given to her by her grandfather. Christy had previously applied for a gun license to carry the weapon, but had been denied.
