Shocking: Woman’s cowardly attack on old lady

'I felt like I was going to die'

An 83-year-old grandmother was left shaken after a women attempted to steal her handbag in Sydney’s southwest.

It what appears to be a random attack, Lorrette Doueihi was pushed to the ground last week, leaving her with bruises and a suspected broken nose. 

‘I was very close to dying, I felt like I was going to die,’ she told ABC news through a translator.

Doueihi was walking along Nuwarra Road in Moorebank on September 28 when the woman in question assaulted her. 

‘I just felt two hands on my shoulders and I was pushed really hard,’ Doueihi said according to News.com.au.

‘I was walking slowly and I just felt two hands on my shoulders and I was pushed really hard.’

 
‘I fell on my face and all I can see is blood and I started screaming “help me please, help me”.’

 
Doueihi now wants to express her thanks to another elderly lady who helped her after the attack.

‘She was much older than I was, it took us together for me to stand up, between 10 and 15 minutes because none of us had the power to help me up,’ she said.

‘In fact I started crawling a bit to try and gain some strength and stand up, but I couldn’t.

‘Without her I probably would have died.’

 
Detective Chief Inspector Ken Hardie described the attack ‘disgraceful’.

 
‘This disgraceful and callous attack on this defenceless elderly woman is just unbelievable,’ he said.

‘We need information to catch this animal so she can be bought before the courts and dealt with.’
