A school worker was sacked from her job after she corrected a student’s spelling over Twitter.

Katie Nash was let go from her role as social media manager for a high school after posting a light-hearted response to a student’s request that the school be closed.

The student tweeted: ‘Close school tammarow PLEASE’.

To which Katie, replied: ‘But then how would you learn how to spell “tomorrow”.’

She was sacked from the school in Maryland, US, following the incident although her tweet has gone viral.

Katie said she expected the school would provide her with guidance rather than sack her.

‘As a new employee, I think I sort of would have expected that there would have been some counselling or some suggestions on how to improve.’
