It was the moment that touched Sally Obermeder.
Waiting for the birth of her second child via surrogate, Sally watched as her five-year-old daughter Annabelle reached out and touched the belly of the surrogate who is carrying her new brother or sisters.
‘Everything about this picture makes my heart explode with love and gratitude,’ she wrote on Instagram.

Sally and Annabelle are in the US waiting for the birth of the new baby. After battling cancer five years ago, Sally was told she wouldn’t be able to carry another pregnancy.
Sally and husband Marcus then sought to find a surrogate and were successful. Mother-of three Rachel is expecting their baby any day.
But with the baby’s birth delayed, Sally had to explain to Annabelle that they would not be home for Christmas. She was speechless when hotel staff set up a Christmas tree in their hotel room to help make Annabelle feel less far from home.
‘I mentioned to a hotel staff member that we’ll be here for Xmas and Annabelle is a bit bummed. The next day while we were out they put up this amazing Xmas tree in our room – totally decorated it and you could have heard Annabelle squeal with delight four states away.’
