Pauline Hanson's old enemy back to haunt her

Pauline Hanson’s stunning return to Australian politics looks set to spur another comeback – with her arch-nemesis from the nineties, drag queen Pauline Pantsdown, threatening to again make life hard for the controversial politician.

The Queensland One Nation head – who says she has so far been snubbed by the major parties as they try to form a balance of power – has a long and bitter history with Pantsdown, also known as Sydney university lecturer Simon Hunt. The politician once filed a defamation lawsuit over a song Pantsdown released, which used edited grabs of her voice to form sometimes crude and inflammatory lyrics.

‘I’ve had about 75 messages saying “we’re assuming Pauline Pantsdown will be back”,’ Hunt told the ABC. ‘I’m not sure yet, but it’s what people want. I don’t know whether it’s useful or not.

‘Last time when I had my 15 minutes of fame, it was Aboriginal people and Asian people who came up to me and said “thank you for giving me a conduit to help me through the pain I felt”.’

While Pauline was deeply offended by Pantsdown last time – saying the performer degraded and defamed her – the satirist enjoyed a major top ten hit in Australia with her Pauline-baiting song ‘I Don’t Like It’.
