Brisbane Bronco’s player Darius Boyd’s wife Kayla Bond has revealed how she aborted a baby after suffering a miscarriage earlier in the year.

Kayla, who suffered a miscarriage in April last year, fell pregnant again in August and opted to have an abortion. She said the miscarriage was so emotionally scarring she couldn’t face the prospect of it happening again.

The couple, who have a one-year-old daughter called Willow, decided to terminate the pregnancy two days after learning Kayla was pregnant.

‘I didn’t want to get attached to the fact that I could have another baby and then I could miscarry again,’ Kayla told the Courier Mail.

‘It would have affected our marriage, it would have been very stressful and hard.’

Many are surprised she has chosen to speak out about but she says she knows her decision will be judged.

She says she and Darius still want to have three children together and will try for a second child in a year’s time.
