A nine-year-old girl has made headlines after she found an abandoned baby in her backyard.
At first, Elysia Laub thought the baby was a pig, but when she saw the little arms and legs she knew she had to get help.
‘We have two pigs,’ the girl told WISH-TV. ‘I thought they had a baby or something.’
Calling for her mum, they ventured into the yard, picked up the baby and called the police.
ABC News reports the baby was found with the umbilical cord and placenta still attached.
The child was taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Police are still searching for the mother.
