In the hours before two sisters were shot and killed by their mother, 17-year-old Madison Sheats’ friend described her as sounding ‘ weird’ on the phone.
Speaking to the Daily Mail the who girl, who asked to remain anonymous, said she spoke to Madison around 9 or 10 am Friday morning, who told her she was fighting with her mum, Christy Sheats.
‘I called her around 9 or 10 that morning to ask her a favor and I could tell something was wrong with her, she said.
‘I could just tell in her voice she was upset about something. I asked her what was going on and she wouldn’t tell me.
‘She just said that she was arguing with her mom. I found that really weird because she would always tell me what was wrong with her but that day she just didn’t tell me.’
The friend added that she had been friends with Madison for the last seven years and had been to her house many times.
‘I was over there almost every weekend and we did stuff together. I never noticed anything with the family. I mean they argued but there was nothing really big.
‘Her mom was a good person. I just don’t know what happened that day.’
According to a press release from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, Christy Sheats “convened a family meeting” in the living room of her Texas home before opening fire on Madison, 17, and Taylor, 22 on Friday.
Madison collapsed and died at the scene, while her sister, Taylor, was airlifted to hospital where she later died from her injuries.
It was later revealed 22-year-old Taylor Sheats was to be married yesterday.
